TI CRICKET - INSTRUCTIONS - by ANDROMEDA SOFTWARE (1983) -------------------------------------------------------- The game TI CRICKET follows exactly the rules of limited overs cricket. The program contains data for two teams, ENGLAND and WEST INDIES, and their respective players. By editing lines 230 to 470 you can change the teams and players as you wish. To change players names and ratings, proceed as follows. Each players name must be 6 characters long, including trailing blanks, ie: -Line 270 "GOWER 11154410" The first 3 numbers relate PACE,SPIN and SWING bowling. The 4th, 5th and 6th numbers refer to his ability as a batsman to play PACE, SPIN and SWING bowling. The 7th number relates to his SPECIAL SHOT: 1 = HOOK 2 = DRIVE 3 = CUT 4 = NONE. Alter these details as you wish, but DO NOT alter the 8th number. The game consists of FIVE displays. The main display shows a scoreboard including current batsmen, totals, fall of wickets, current batsman's and bowler's ratings and a summary of how the game is progressing. At the end of each over the opportunity is given to view other displays. The other displays are governed by a MENU, which gives you access to an up-to-the-minute scorecard, bowlers & batsmans ratings, and the option to declare. Each bowler is limited to how many overs he can bowl, depending on the length of the match. BATSMEN'S RATINGS : -Each batsman is given a rating, dependent on how well he is able to play against FAST, SPIN and SWING bowling. He may or may not be allocated a SPECIALIST SHOT. These attributes can be compared with skill of the bowler at the time. The difference between the batsman's ability to play a particular type of bowling and the bowler's ability to bowl that ball, reflects the chance of the batsman being given OUT. It also influences the amount of runs he is likely to score. BOWLER'S RATING: -Players are also rated as to how well they can bowl. You should select your bowlers with care, taking into account the batsman's ratings. You are also able to pitch each ball in one of 3 directions: on the WICKET, or on the LEG or OFF stump. When deciding where to pitch the ball, take into account the facing batsman's special shot, as follows: -SPECIAL SHOT AVOID PITCHING DRIVE on WICKET CUT on OFF stump HOOK on LEG stump Many other features have a bearing on how the match will progress. These will become apparent as the game is played. We hope you find the game enjoyable. To play the game, turn the cassette over, rewind and type . NOW PLAY THE GAME AND MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN!!!
